Phonics skills are the foundation of reading, spelling, and writing for young learners. This summer review course reviews the essential skills students were introduced to in First Grade. Utilizing the UFLI Foundations Curriculum, learners will receive systematic, explicit, hands-on, and engaging phonics instruction. This unique, small group class is the perfect setting for learners to be able to participate and feel connected to the other learners in the class, while making amazing growth in their phonics skills. The course syllabus outlines all of the phonics skills we will be reviewing. Each lesson will span two class sessions and will include the following: -concept introduction/review -phonemic awareness -visual and auditory practice -blending practice -word work -reading -spelling -sentence writing -decodable text At the end of this course, learners will feel more confident in their phonics skills and will be ready to tackle Second Grade Phonics!
