In this class we will talk about BIG feelings. Young adults can find it hard to put their emotions into words. Through different exercises we will learn ways to express our big feelings to those around us. If your learners is not an avid communicator, gets frustrated by lifeโs everyday stressors or gets angry when unable to find the right words to explain how they are feeling, this class can help. I teach in a calm, low pressure setting so children feel comfortable trying different techniques, such as visualization, drawing and using their imagination to calm themselves when they get frustrated. *******Transfer requests must be made 48 hours before class begins. Students who missed class will have access to the recording if there are more than one enrolled. Transfers will not be issues for missed classes. If you are interested, below is a link to the books and journals I have published that accompany many of my classes. https://www.amazon.com/~/e/B09PFM1KPM If time allows we will be reading the books listed below. Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Iowa State University
I have a bachelors degree in child and family from Iowa State University. I have extensive experience with developmentally challenged children and young adults. This is not a therapy class, it is to teach children ways to express feelings.
What does our voice sound like if we are angry?
The questions and conversations I will be having with the students will not be specifically guided from their personal issues. I give broad statements such as:
If your sibling takes your favorite toy here are two things you can try. First we use our word: please give it back. Second we ask mom or dad to help.
