Regulating Your Emotions by Managing Your Sensory Needs Ages 5-9
Class experience

Because we will be talking about each person's individual sensory needs I feel it is important to keep the group small, there will be between 1 and 5 students. Topics covered will include: What are our senses? What is sensory input? What is some sensory input that is upsetting, overwhelming, or frustrating for you? I am an autistic adult who has been working with autistic children and teens as well as students who have other sensory differences for 5 years as a tutor, community support worker, and classroom aide. Not only do I have both personal and professional experience with autism but I also have 10 years of teaching experience and an associate's degree in special education. I have worked with many autistic children and teens who are all in different places on the spectrum and have different, unique, strengths, and challenges. I have also been working with autistic students on Outschool since January, if you have any concerns please feel free to contact me or to read the reviews on any of my other autism-related classes, especially my autism social groups, as they have the most feedback.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Some of the topics that we discuss such as emotional triggers and big emotions may be upsetting for some students. I am not a therapist and this class is not intended to be or replace therapy if needed.
