Class Experience

NO LIVE CLASSES

My classes are taught with understanding and patience. Students are encouraged to participate fully so they gain the most out of their time with me and other students. Please note, this is not in any way a therapeutic class. Techniques or strategies are given in general terms so children can take these tools and use what works for them.

This is a condensed version of my eight-day class with the same title.
Low self-esteem can hinder children from enjoying new experiences and the joys of each new day. What works for one student may not work for another. Keeping this in mind, I give students several different techniques to help them grow emotionally.

This is a multi-day class. Videos will be recorded so you may watch them at your convenience. There are many ways for your learner to interact during the class. You are always welcome to chat in the classroom or private message me. I will be asking questions so we can get to know each other better and so you can show all of us your hobbies and interests.

This is an outline of what will be taught in the class. Learners will not be engaging in therapeutic conversation during this class.
 1st
When we feel stress
Action plans to handle stressors.

2nd
How and why we get angry.
Self-awareness

3rd
Listening skills
Seeing the situation from other people's perspective.

4th
Recognizing how we feel before we have an outburst or meltdown so we can stop it before it starts.
How does our behavior harm others.

5th How our behavior hurts other people.

We will practice several different techniques to de-escalate our feelings and refocus our attention in a calmer manner. We will also go over how our emotions affect others. This is a student-centered class, taught with patience and understanding. I feel it is more productive when the students participate as much as possible, instead of me lecturing them, I encourage students to interact. No prior knowledge is required for this class.

The videos are shorter than a live class. Your child is welcome to pause, rewatch and take notes. Since this is not a live class with interaction, all of the information can be presented in a shorter time frame. Thus making it more informative and easier for students to sit through.
