Class Experience

US Grade 3
We will be teaching Grade 3 Math.  The class may have worksheets and activities. We may use games, slides, video, images, manipulatives to teach the material. We will be using the interactive whiteboard on Zoom so students are encouraged to provide their share their responses using a mouse, in the chat box or using a drawing tablet. Previous Grade 2 Math experience or knowledge would be recommended because the curriculum moves quite fast.

Prerequisite: Completion of Grade 2 Math.

Week of (Dec 2) Unit 1 Addition and Subtraction
Covers: mental addition, subtraction, mental math subtraction with 3 digit number, regrouping in addition

Week of (Dec 9) Unit 1 Addition and Subtraction
covers: twice in subtraction, regrouping with zero tens, 2 digit numbers to the nearest ten, rounding 3 digit numbers to the nearest ten
 
Week (Dec 16) Unit 1 Addition and Subtraction
covers: mileage chart, order of operations, graphs
 
Week (Dec 23) Unit 2 Multiplication concept
Covers: many times the same group, multiplication and addition, multiplying on a number line 

Week (Dec 30) Unit 2 Multiplication concept
covers: multiplying as an array, order of operations, understanding word problems, mixed review, multiplying by zero

Week (Jan 6) Unit 3 Multiplication Tables
Covers: introduction, multiplication table 2,4, 10, 5, 3

Week (Jan 13) Unit 3 Multiplication Tables
covers: multiplication table, 6, 11, 9, 7. 8, 12

Week (Jan 20) Unit 4 Telling Time
covers: reading the clock, half and quarter hour, till and past, how many minutes pass

Week (Jan 27)  Unit 4 Telling Time
covers: elapsed time, clock to the minute, elapsed time in minutes, calendar

Week (Feb 3)  Unit 5 Money
covers: using the half dollar, making change, mental math and money problems

Week (Feb 10) Unit 5 Money
covers: mixed review, money word problem, 

Week (Feb 17) Book 3B Unit 6 Place Value with Thousands
covers: thousands four digit numbers and place value, which number is greater

Week (Feb 24)  Unit 6 Place Value with Thousands
covers: add 4 digit numbers with regrouping, estimating, rounding to the nearest hundred, word problems

Other Details

Parental Guidance
We may use Google Forms, Google Docs, Google Slides and Google Sheets for teaching our class and for informal assessments during our class. Student may require a Gmail account to use them. For class notes, I will be using Zoom Screen Share to share the Primary Mathematics 4A Questions to complete in class. Students will be predominately writing in their own Primary Mathematics workbook to complete classwork. Occasionally there may be worksheet that will be required to be printed out at home to complete for extra practice and those will be attached to sent to parent before or after our session.

Finished Grade 3 Math
Supply List
There are 1 required text for our class. Students please have a copy of the book because we will use it during class. Please refer to ISBN for correct book.
