1 hour per week. Most work will be done in class. Student is encourage to use mouse, or computer pencil or computer pen and complete the math questions together on the screen during Zoom screen share.

Class Experience

US Grade 3
We will be teaching Grade 3 Math.  The class may have worksheets and activities. We may use games, slides, video, images, manipulatives to teach the material. We will be using the interactive whiteboard on Zoom so students are encouraged to provide their share their responses using a mouse, in the chat box or using a drawing tablet. Previous Grade 2 Math experience or knowledge would be recommended because the curriculum moves quite fast.

covers:  multiplying on a line, multiplication as an array, order of operation, word problems

Week (Jan 23) Telling Time
covers: reading the clock, half and quarter hours, till and past, how many minutes pass, elapsed time, calendar
 
Week (Feb 6) Money
covers: Mental math and money problems, solving money word problems
 
Week (Feb 13) Place Value with Thousands
covers: Four digit number and place value, which is greater, mental adding and subtracting, add four digit number with regrouping
 
Week  (Feb 20) Place Value with Thousands
covers: Subtract four digit numbers with regrouping, estimating, word problems
 
Week (Feb 27) Geometry
covers: shapes, special quadrilaterals, perimeter, area
 
Week (Mar 6) Geometry
covers: area, area and perimeter, solids, word problems
 
Week (Mar 13) Measuring
covers: Measuring to the nearest fourth inch, centimeters and millimeters, line plots and more measuring
 
Week (Mar 20) Measuring
covers: Feet, yards, Miles, pounds, ounces, grams, and kilograms, cups, pints, quarts, gallons
 
Week (Mar 27) Measuring and division
covers: measuring word problem, division making groups, divide evenly into groups
 
Week (April 3) Division
covers: division and word problems
 
Week (April 10) Fractions
covers: Fractions on a number line, mixed numbers, equivalent fractions
 
Week (April 17) Fractions
covers: Comparing fractions, word problems

Parental Guidance
We will be using screen share during our class. As well, student may need a Gmail account when we may use Google Slides, Google Docs, Google Sheets or Google Forms for notes or for informal assessments.

I have over 17 years of teaching experience in classrooms and in one to one tutoring settings. I believe in lifelong learning. I graduated with a Bachelor of Education in Elementary with a Math and Science specialization. I also completed a Diploma in Early Years Education, Certificate in Kindergarten, Diploma in Special Education, and Certificate in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language). I have worked with student ages from Pre-K to Grade 12.

I believe every student can learn and each student may learn differently. My job as an educator is to teach students and provide them with new challenges that stimulate their own thinking and inspire them to enjoy learning.
