US Grade 2
We will be teaching Grade 2 Math. The class may have worksheets and activities. We may use games, slides, video, images, manipulatives to teach the material. We will be using the interactive whiteboard on Zoom so students are encouraged to share their responses using a mouse, in the chat box or using a drawing tablet. Previous Grade 1 Math experience or knowledge would be recommended because the curriculum moves quite fast. * Tentative schedule. Pacing of class is subject to understanding of students. Week (Sept 2) Grade 2 Addition covers: regrouping with tens, hundreds, add in column practice Week (Sept 9) Addition covers: Addition of two digit numbers, addition of three digit numbers, review Week (Sept 16) Subtraction covers: family fact of 6,7,8, number rainbows 11, 12, subtracting with one and two digits. Week (Sept 23) Subtraction covers: mental math, subtraction of two digit and three digit numbers Week (Sept 30) Geometry and Fractions covers: Shapes, geometric patterns, solids, fractions Week (Oct 7) Geometry and Fractions covers: comparing fractions Week (Oct 14) Three digit numbers covers: skip counting, comparing numbers, number line, add and subtract whole hundreds, completing the next hundred Week (Oct 21) Three digit numbers covers: word problems, patterns and problems, bar graphs and pictographs Week (Oct 28) Measuring covers: centimeter, meter, feet, miles, inches Week (Nov 4) Measuring covers: weight pounds, weight in kilograms Week (Nov 11) Regrouping Addition and Subtraction covers: mental math, adding 3 digit number in columns, add in columns regrouping twice, regrouping one hundred as 10 tens, graphs, word problems Week (Nov 18) Money covers: change, counting coins, adding money, word problems Week (Nov 25) Multiplication covers: many times the same group, multiplication and addition, multiplying on a number line, multiplication practice Please note: The topics will not cycle back to the beginning and new topics will be introduced in upcoming weeks in this order.

Parental Guidance
We may use Google Forms, Google Docs, Google Slides and Google Sheets, for teaching our class and for informal assessments during our class. Student may require a Gmail account to use them. Google Forms and Google Sheets may be used for informal quizzes. Google Docs and Google Slides may be used to present notes during class.
For class notes, I will be using Zoom Screen Share to share the material in class. Students will be predominately writing in their own lined paper, notebook, or worksheets. Occasionally there will be worksheet that will be required to be printed out at home to complete for extra practice and those will be attached to sent to parent before or after our session.

I have over 17 years of teaching experience in classrooms and in one to one tutoring settings. I believe in lifelong learning. I graduated with a Bachelor of Education in Elementary with a Math and Science specialization. I also completed a Diploma in Early Years Education, Certificate in Kindergarten, Diploma in Special Education, and Certificate in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language). I have worked with student ages from Pre-K to Grade 12.
I believe every student can learn and each student may learn differently. My job as an educator is to teach students and provide them with new challenges that stimulate their own thinking and inspire them to enjoy learning.
