US Grade 3 - 5
Join me to learn all about some amazing state parks in the United States. Much is known about national parks, but little is often discussed out America's amazing state parks. Many of these parks are also listed as Historic Places. I have been to many of these listed state parks and can't wait to teach you all about them :)! Each week we will explore two different state parks. Since this class meets in an ongoing format, each week's content stands on its own and does not require previous knowledge or attendance. *Extension activities will be provided for each learner at the beginning of every class. This will help to enhance each learner's knowledge of the park/s that they learn about. Classes will be taught through discussion and a PowerPoint presentation using many pictures that I have taken at many of the parks that I have visited personally, as well as pictures from family and friends. We will discuss the geography, geology, wildlife, history and fun facts about each of these listed parks. Learners will have ample opportunity to share their thoughts and ask questions throughout the lesson :)! At the end of each lesson learners will be given a few fun "check for understanding" questions to help them with retaining information about what was taught during the lesson. Learners will also be given the opportunity to share what they learned and liked about the parks discussed. Students only need an interest in nature to enjoy this class. No homework is required for this course, but activities will be provided that learners are encouraged to do to help enhance their learning. The state parks that will be taught in this class are: Crater of Diamonds (Arkansas), Providence Canyon (Georgia), Antelope Island (Utah), Goblin Valley (Utah), Salt Point (California), Lake Tahoe (Nevada), Bear Mountain (New York), Hunting Island (South Carolina), Berlin Ichthyosaur (Nevada), Valley of Fire (Nevada), Elephant Rocks (Missouri), Cherry Springs (Pennsylvania), Starved Rock (Illinois), Itasca (Minnesota), Bodie (California), Old Sacramento (California), Fall Creek Falls (Tennessee), Seminole Canyon (Texas), Natural Tunnel State Park (Virginia) and Farragut State Park (Idaho). *Please look below for the exact dates of when each state park will be taught. Are you interested in a park not on the list? Message me with your interest and I'll see if I can add it to my schedule :). *Sibling discount available upon request. Parental Guidance
I have a BA in elementary education with a minor in history. I love teaching all subjects but most of all, I love teaching others about the world around them. I have a great love for history, nature and the great outdoors. I have been blessed throughout my life to have spent a lot of time traveling across the United States. During this time, I have been able to explore many of our country's beautiful National and State Parks. My parents were both educators. My dad was also a park ranger for many years before becoming a classroom teacher. My parents both instilled in me at a young age the love for learning, teaching and appreciating nature. I love sharing these same principles with others!

I am an enthusiastic and goal driven teacher with an extensive background in education. I have a BA in elementary education with a minor in history. I am a certified, K-8 credentialed teacher with a TESOL (ELL, ESL) endorsement. I also worked for several years as a teachers-in-training coach, providing feedback and guidance to new teachers. I am a dedicated teacher who believes that ALL children can learn and am extremely passionate about sharing knowledge with others.
After teaching for over 18 years in the public school system, life took me in a new direction. I have now been teaching on Outschool for over 5 years, as well as running my own tutoring business. I am overjoyed to be able to teach reading, science, nature, social studies, math, and language arts classes in new and exciting ways :)!
I was a 1st grade teacher (ages 6 and 7, all subjects), for most of my teaching career. I have taught in all grade levels (K-12) in the after-school program and in various tutoring programs. I worked in a very diverse population which allowed me to be well trained in differentiating my instruction to meet the needs of ALL learners. I have found that small group instruction is a key to the most conducive learning. All of my classes that I teach on Outschool focus on small group, or individualized, instruction. This allows me the opportunity to make learning exciting for every child!
I live on a little farm, with my husband, nestled in the high desert of the United States of America. We love the great outdoors and spend as much time as we can enjoying nature. We spend all of our free time taking care of our animals, traveling, hiking, fishing and camping. I am passionate about bringing nature and the great outdoors into my teaching as much as I possibly can :).
