I have taught this AP course in a public high school in the south for 9 years. It is part of the designed Advanced Placement curriculum and I have been trained through the College Board on how to best handle these sensitive topics. I am a certified Advanced Placement Human Geography teacher on my valid SC teaching license and National Board Certified for Young Adolescents in Social Studies. I have also been an Advanced Placement Human Geography Reader for the past 6 years where these topics have been tested on the examination and I have scored.
No reading is required. Students should begin to work on the one-page teacher supplied graphic organizer before coming to class.

A one-page teacher created graphic organizer will be given to students upon enrolling in the course.
Informal assessment will occur throughout the crash course study session and will drive the discussion through the highlights of the content.
2 hours per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
This course includes discussion on anti and pro-natal government policies, as well as, ethnic conflict. As this is a crash course in the topic discussion we will not debate how and why, but look at what they are and their importance within the curriculum. If a student has taken the formal AP Human Geography course, these topics have already been discussed in class and will be touched on quickly in our time together.
