US Grade 5 - 8
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this semester-long course, students will explore the geography of the different regions of Europe. I use combination of lecture, interactive activities, and map analysis to help students gain the skills to read and interpret maps. By the end of the course, students will have a broader perspective on the continent’s geography and a deeper appreciation for its physical and cultural geography. Please check out the syllabus section for a description of what is covered each week. Class Expectations and Assignments Students are expected to actively engage in class discussions, share their views, and participate respectfully verbally or by using the chat. Weekly assignments are optional and provide an opportunity for students to apply their knowledge and receive constructive feedback to enhance their understanding. However, completing the final research project is required. Why should your learner take this course? This course is a great addition to any student’s academic journey. In my classes, I help students to understand that Geography is not just about maps; it’s about understanding the systems and relationships that define our place we call home, earth. By taking this world geography course, students gain critical thinking skills, appreciate cultural diversity, and make informed decisions as global citizens. I look forward to meeting your learner. See you in the classroom!

Parental Guidance
Weekly extension activities may include website link that have been reviewed and found age-appropriate. In class, I may share external web links from reputable organizations such as (but not limited to) the US Census bureau. These are solely for the purpose of map and data analysis, or to be used in the completion of take-home assignments.
By enrolling your learner in this course, you grant us permission to share these and take full responsibility for supervising your child's internet use to ensure safe and appropriate online behavior.
I utilize platforms like blooket, Gimkit, YouTube and Google earth in some lessons whenever possible. Students do not need an account to join in playing Blooket. I will share a code in the class room that directs them into the game. I will screen share whenever I am sharing from YouTube and Google Earth.
Supply List
I encourage students to have a globe/ a map of Europe and additional supplies (like pencil, eraser and coloring utensils for mapping activities) close by. Activity sheets will be posted in the classroom for students to print out and bring to class.
