Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 2
It has been proven that the ability to read proficiently is a fundamental skill that is required for all areas of academic success. Yet reading is more than just being able to recognize, pronounce, and comprehend words. For children especially in the early grades, content that awakens their curiosity fosters not only competent fluency in reading skills but the acquisition of knowledge as well. It was these concepts about literacy that inspired the development of the What, Where, When, Who, Why and How reading program.

The first course in the program is "The What", which is designed specifically for the reading requirements of the 1st and 2nd grades. The three-week course meets twice a week for 30 minutes.

The content of lessons is structured to answer questions related to relatable subjects, such as foods, hobbies, nature, science, games, and more. This class will also include visual material (videos and pictures), and some fun activities and exercises to provide further interest and engagement. The functions of Zoom will be used often in each lesson. Students will be able to fill in the blanks and write the letters and answers on the screen.

Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson learners should be able to:
1.	State factual aspects of reading content
2.	Spell words in a selected list
3.	Respond to comprehension questions in correct sentences.
4.	State the meanings of words in a selected list
5.	Attain greater fluency and confidence in reading

Learning Goals

The primary teaching goals of the program are:

2.	Spelling and pronunciation
3.	Comprehension
4.	Meanings of words

From a young age, I was adept at reading, spelling and comprehension at high levels. I also knew how to write book reports and summaries. Today, I want to share what I learned, along with providing the established tools and procedures for this type of learning. The overall goal of the program is to inspire learners to love reading and appreciate its value for learning other subjects as well as acquiring knowledge. I believe that proper reading, pronunciation, spelling, and comprehension are essential not just to learning, but to various aspects of life in general.
