Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
This class will detail the history of Black History Month, and what the month really means, not just to African-Americans, but to all people. There will be information about the origins of the month-long observation, including people who were involved in advocating for it and creating it. Some little-known facts about Black History Month will be provided, along with information on the reasons why the month was created. Additionally, there will be video clips and pictures showing different Black History Month celebrations around the world. Some of the pioneers and history-makers that are featured this month will also be mentioned. Lastly, there will be bonus exercises related to black history.

Learning Goals

Students will learn some valuable and interesting information about the history of Black History Month. The class will also measure reading and comprehension, with quiz questions at the end of the lesson to assess what the student learned.

I am a certified online teacher, teaching math, grammar, English, reading, and history at various levels to children and adults. I utilize videoconferencing, audio, videos, whiteboards, and various e-learning techniques for young learners, as well as adult learners.  Other areas covered in my courses include algebra, geometry, physics, HTML, and instructional design. students from kindergarten to the 12th grade. Each class is interactive, engaging, thought-provoking, and fun!

I have an MS in Instructional Design and Technology, with 10+ years experience. I have written and published three technical books on Amazon. In November 2018, I received my TEFL certification. My goal has been to not only develop courseware but to also experience teaching. I believe teaching is the core of effective instructional design. My work has included diverse instructional projects helping different learners acquire needed skills and knowledge.

In my spare time, I watch and analyze basketball, partake in social matters and advocacy, exercise, write books and articles, do landscape paintings, and work on interior and exterior housework.
