includedClass Experience
Many of my students have similar issues when they come to me for help. Their behavior escalates quickly, and they find it hard to communicate with family about what they need to change this behavior. In this class we are going to focus on those needs. Such as "why do I explode with anger over the littlest things?" When we find the root cause of the minor frustrations, we limit the explosive behavior. Think of it as a balloon. it can only handle so much before it pops, that is what we are going to do! Decrease the volume of little things so we can better handle each situation as it comes, not as a whole. A little caveat, I do talk fast in the videos. I highly encourage you to allow your child to watch them more than once. I know it is hard for some to sit through even a few minutes and that is alright. Start and stop as many times as you need.
Learning Goals
Students will learn ways to move forward from intrusive thoughts, find balance with routine to limit frustration that can lead to anger and become more aware of their needs when they are overstimulated and ways to combat behavioral escalations.
Syllabus
4 Lessons
over 4 WeeksLesson 1:
Regulating Focus
Finding balance in everything from social media to overstimulation. When we learn to find routine in the everyday moments, such as homework, chores, cleaning, etc. we begin to limit the level of stress and clutter around us and in our minds. Then, when a minor inconvenience happens, we handle it with logic instead of anger because we have more mental space to think it through clearly.

Lesson 2:
Why do we explode over little things?
Everyday we are faced with challenges from stress, expectations, lack of self-confidence, all of these things add up and then "one more thing" gets added to the pile and we explode. Let's learn about our options so this stops controlling our moods and relationships.

Lesson 3:
How to let go of intrusive thoughts.
Once we have an explosion, we may replay the conversation over and over again. If someone says or does something that infuriates us, we let it live rent free in our minds, and every time we think about it, we get angry all over again. How do we stop this?

Lesson 4:
Reframing how we behave and see our choices.
Learning to view our behavior and our choices in a different way so we can learn from our mistakes instead of having the same argument or disagreement over and over again with the same outcome.
