One on One! Writing Lessons (IEW) Private 10 Weeks - Homeschool Friendly

Full Class Description

One on One writing is a 10 week one on one private writing class which uses the IEW program. The IEW program assist students with incorporating stylistic techniques to their writing. In this one on one private session the student will be presented with writing assignments which will allow them to practice various IEW stylistic techniques. Unit 1-2 Notes and outlines and unit 3 story sequence model for narrative summaries will allow the student to learn and practice incorporating stylistic techniques such as dress-up, sentence openers, and time allowing decorations. To ease the stress of coming up with a topic to write about students will be given a story to rewrite which will allow them to spend time practicing stylist techniques taught. Class time will consist of the student being presented with a story, IEW stylistic techniques and the opportunity to practice the techniques presented. When the student has completed the final draft of the story it will be reviewed by the teacher using the IEW checklist and the six traits of writing. Students may receive an oral or written critique of written assignments. Essentially, the layout of the private session will consist of:
1.	Reading a story
2.	Creating a keyword outline (KWO) from the story
3.	Retelling the story from the KWO
4.	Rough draft rewrite of the story and incorporating stylistic techniques taught
5.	Typing the final draft of the story and email to teacher
6.	Teacher review story and discuss with student
** Late assignments will not be reviewed.

Note: Each learner experience will be different, and I will work toward improving weaknesses.
Note: Lessons will be presented for Elementary level (age 9-10); and Jr. H. Level (age 11-13).
