As an elementary classroom/ special education teacher, teaching the writing is a good way to launch the new year. The students are able to tell stories about themselves and share what is important to them. This builds a sense of community in the classroom. This writing class helps the young writers develop their writing skills and confidence in writing. I have seen students achieve success and growth with learning new craft moves and learning new strategies in writing.
