55 mins in-class hoursAssessment
Learners will be assessed through the creation of their final product.Class Experience
Learners will be taught to read a recipe and go through the steps of creating their very own home made pizza. We will learn cooking techniques such as how to measure ingredients. We will learn about baking with yeast and what it takes to create a successful recipe using yeast. We will learn about different kitchen equipment such as ovens and stand mixers and their various attachments. We will learn about proper handwashing techniques and the importance of good hygiene in the kitchen. There is no better application of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) than through the creation of a delicious dish. Learners will learn about the history of pizza and how the Italians brought their delicacy with them as they immigrated throughout the world in the 1900's. I do not cook along side students, instead I focus all of my attention on them as I assist them in the completion of each step that is necessary to create their final product.
Learning Goals
Students will be introduced to baking by following a recipe as they create their own home made pizza.
