Students will be supported during the class to create their own themed digital planner.Class Experience
In this one-time tech class, students will use the Zinnia App to begin to design and create their own digital journal. Students will be guided on how to create a new journal, add pages, use templates, and add different styles of digital content. Students can either copy example templates as shown by the teacher or develop their own style and layouts. Students will be shown how to import their own content, and how to share their journal with friends and family. Students are warmly encouraged to participate in the lesson, to help suggest content for their journals, and to share their design ideas with classmates. Zinnia is a creative and fun way to keep a digital journal, and allows users to add calendars, stickers, planners, notes and much more. Students can use their completed journals to record daily events, thoughts and ideas by adding text using the onscreen keyboard or writing directly using an Apple Pencil or compatible stylus. Students can continue to import photographs and images once the journal templates have been created. Lesson Outline: > Students will be given the opportunity to discuss the possible features that they would like to include in their digital journal, including, 'To do' lists, planners, calendars and study notes. > Students will be introduced to the Zinnia App and its interface and will be shown how to access the main templates and tools. > Students will set up a basic calendar page layout for a month of their journal and will select appropriate color palettes and typography styles. > Students will be shown how to manipulate, organize and lock assets. > Students will be shown how to import their own original images and photographs. The session will close with students considering how best to use their completed journal, either as a reflective journal, notebook, or organizer. This class is intended for students who have access to an iPad. Whilst the App can be installed on an iPhone, the teacher demonstrations will be delivered on-screen by iPad. This course is best delivered if you can work on your iPad whilst watching the demonstration on a different device. Parents will need to have installed the Zinnia App before class and set up their account for the student to access. Additional sessions can be booked by students who would like support in creating further templates for their digital journal. Please do reach out via the classroom at the end of the session.
Learning Goals
Students will successfully access the Zinnia app and begin to use and create templates to support their own digital journal journey.
