Beginning Reading for Ages 4-7

This is a weekly reading class for students to master sight words based on word families. This class will focus on different words each week, so students are welcome to drop in when they can. Students will need to know the alphabet and each letter sound.

Week 1 -at (bat, cat, hat, rat)
Week 2 -an (fan, man, pan, ran)
Week 3 -en (hen, men, pen, ten) 
Week 4 -ed (bed, fed, red, led)
Week 5 -it (bit, hit, pit, sit) 
Week 6 -id (did, hid, kid, lid)
Week 7 -ot (hot, dot, not, pot)
Week 8 -op (hop, mop, pop, top) 
Week 9 -un (bun, fun, run, sun) 
Week 10 -ug (mug, rug, dug, hug)

New word families will be added as needed  

Progress
Students will work on their new words through worksheets, sounding them out, games, and interaction with their fellow students as well as receive personal feedback from their teacher during each class.

Time Commitment
Students will meet with the teacher and classmates for 20 minutes each week and are encouraged to print off their worksheet provided at the end of class to practice their words during the week.
