Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 1
Let's face it, memorizing sight words can be challenging for students learning to read. In this 30-minute class students will practice sight word recognition skills by playing a fast-paced, interactive game that will quickly become a favorite! As a Special Education teacher, I invented this game to make learning sight words fun and engaging and it instantly became a hit. My students constantly ask to play this game in all my small reading groups at school. We will play "Beat the Teacher" using sight words off of the Fry First 100 Sight Word list, then we will practice spelling sight words, and finally we will practice reading the sight words in sentences to conclude the class. Can you beat me? There's only one way to find out!

Hello!

I am currently a Special Education teacher at an elementary school, and I have been teaching for ten years now. I have a Master's degree in Special Education and a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I specialize in providing targeted small group reading and math classes for students with learning disabilities (such as Dyslexia) and attention deficits (such as ADHD).

My educational philosophy is that every child learns differently and at a different pace and that's Ok. I make my lessons engaging, fast-paced, and multi-sensory. A lot of the strategies and tools I teach are beneficial for ALL learners regardless of their ability level. I want every student to feel successful in my classes and have fun!

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy traveling, hiking, playing volleyball, and my new hobby is learning to play the guitar. I am so excited to have the opportunity to help your child learn and grow. I can't wait to meet you!
