In the first week we will learn the names of the seven continents and where they are located. Each week thereafter will be devoted to a single continent. In the first half of each class students will learn more about  the highlighted continent,  some larger islands included as part of the continent, and major geographical facts about each one. Students will identify each on a map. The second section of the class will be a jeopardy type game where students can apply the knowledge they have gained, using notes they have been encouraged to take during class. 
During the first part of the class students will have the opportunity to contribute their own knowledge, when we complete a KWL chart. Note-taking is encouraged. Questions and answers are employed to encourage student participation in the lecture portion of the class. During the Jeopardy game students will take turns choosing and answering the category questions. Scores will be tallied by the teacher and the student with the most points at the end of the game will be announced.  All students will be congratulated for their efforts.
