Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Join us to learn some fun facts and beliefs about some of my favorite gemstones, Labradorite, Moonstone, Amazonite, and Sunstone, which are a small part of the vast family of feldspar stones and crystals.
During the class we will discover the structure of feldspar, and why the colors vary. We will find out where the stones can be found and some uses for different types of feldspar which makes up approximately 60% of our earths crust. Feldspar was even found by the astronauts on the moon!

Many stones are thought to have special properties that promote healing, protection, and mystery. Learn more about these beliefs and let us know what you think!
Students will be encouraged to take notes on the information about the crystals presented in class.
The class will participate in a "Jeopardy game at the end of the class to see how much they can remember about these abundant semi-precious gems.

* These subject areas are included in this class: science, geography, social studies, math, language arts, and a group assessment.

I have been collecting and researching crystals and gemstones for many years. I have an extensive collection of crystals and a deep fascination with learning how crystals have been used throughout history. My son hunts and polishes stones in his basement workshop so I am very familiar with the process of finding and bringing stones to their polished beauty. I love crystals and gemstones, both for their beauty and their versatility.
