Class Experience

Welcome to Write the Wrongs! In this ongoing class, we'll be looking for errors in a short story. Each story is only a few paragraphs long but will contain plenty of mistakes for us to fix. These stories are also kind of funny, just to make the process a bit more fun. Think of this class as the fun way to keep flexing your grammar muscles during the summer months!

First, we'll take a look at a short story on the screen and hunt for any errors you see. Next, we'll take turns pointing out errors. Using Zoom's annotation tool, you can "fix" the error right on the screen for all of us to see. We'll circle around until all of the errors are found. When it's your turn, if you can find an error, go ahead and fix it on the screen. If you're not sure, you can always pass, and we'll come back around to you again. If you don't want to participate at all, that's fine too (as long as it's also fine with the person who signs you up for this class!). You can definitely benefit just by watching.

As we're correcting these errors, we'll discuss why they're considered errors in the first place. Some of them are obvious, but some of these mistakes may be tough to spot because they seem correct!

So what types of errors can you expect? Each story brings us a variety of errors, but we'll be fixing things like...
-errors with quotation marks
-commas in the wrong place
-misused words (for example: they're/their, deer/dear)
-run-on sentences
-capitalization issues
-verb tenses
and more!

Schedule:
Each week will have a different short story with a variety of errors. Each story is its own lesson and nothing will carry over week to week. We'll definitely see similar mistakes in the stories, but all of the stories are different. Come and go as your schedule allows.

This course will proceed as planned as long as there is one learner enrolled. If you enroll within 24 hours, you are agreeing to the possibility of being the only learner in class.
