“I write because I don’t know what I feel until I read what I say.” Flannery O’Connor Write to yourself. I'm serious. Maybe the idea of journal writing is overwhelming. If you’re unsure about where to start, allow this class to focus your efforts in a dedicated time and space. This breaks journaling into a more manageable task with a specific topic and a set amount of time. Keep an eye on the time as you explore prompts like... 😊-Write about the last time you were undeniably happy. 😯-Imagine what your life would be like if you lived in a different time period. 🧐-What is the one thing you wish people knew about you? UPDATE: We've gone from 7 minutes to 10 minutes! Enjoy those extra minutes of writing time. We'll start class with a quick "hello" and then the prompt will be revealed. I'll start the TEN minute timer (expect a different timer every week), and away we go! Usually, I would use the end of class for you to share. Considering the personal nature of these topics, I do not expect this to happen. You will be much freer while writing knowing you will be the only one hearing your words. ⏳This class is only 15 minutes long for a group of four writers. Expect a writing club atmosphere! Class will run despite how many of you are present. So what are the prompts? If I tell you ahead of time, it defeats the purpose of this being a timed exercise. That said, I have a hint of each prompt in the schedule below. If YOU have an idea for a prompt, share it and we'll try it in a future class! ⭐️If you're looking for more of a writing challenge instead of a journal prompt, check out my other Write Now, Right Now class, linked below in the "Teacher suggests this class next" section.⭐️ ✏️Schedule✏️ Week of May 20: Happiness--FINISHED! Earn blocks of time with each class you attend--either this class, the creative writing challenge class, or the grammar challenge class. Once your stopwatch is half full, your next "Write Now, Right Now" class (any section) is free! You'll be refunded directly after class is over. Earn a second free class when all the spaces are full! You'll get a new stopwatch in your next class to start earning again. We're keeping things fast, fresh, and fun. Let's do this. If you have any questions, please ask!

More about the virtual stopwatch:
-The stopwatch has 16 blocks of time. Every class you attend equals one block on the stopwatch, including your first class. After half of the stopwatch is filled in (that's 8 classes), your next class is free. You earn another free class and a new stopwatch after 16 classes.
-All "Write Now, Right Now" classes earn blocks toward the same stopwatch. For example, if you attended this class on Tuesday and the Grammar Challenge class on Wednesday, you'd be filling in 2 blocks on your stopwatch for that week.
-Your free class will apply to whichever "Write Now, Right Now" class is next on your schedule and will be refunded directly AFTER class.
-Blocks are color coded to help you keep track.
Creative Writing Challenges: Purple

Teacher expertise and credentials
Maryland Teaching Certificate in English/Language Arts
As a former middle and high school English teacher, I've taught many lessons on creative writing. Though I didn't try journal writing specifically with them, some warm-up exercises were similar to topics you'd write about in a journal.
On Outschool, learners enjoy the writing club feel of a small group, my sense of humor (I think?), and the laid back atmosphere of my classes.
And some of them end up staying for years. Literally.
