Week 1Lesson 1PrewritingLearners will generate ideas and organize information for writing by using prewriting strategies such as brainstorming and graphic organizers while making a plan that prioritizes ideas and creative purpose, audience, main idea, and logical sequence. Learners will categorize ideas, organize them into paragraphs, and blend them within organized paragraph structures. We will incorporate correct use of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and other features of polished writing, such as clarity, varied sentence structure, and word choice.

Families should anticipate setting aside an additional 1 hour of weekly writing time for Learners to compose their creative writing pieces.
