Academic and creative writing class for students, where you'll learn the craft of writing and express yourself through words.

US Grade 2 - 6
Beginner - Advanced Level
To ensure effective tutoring, the teacher suggests meeting 2x per week. Book additional recurring meetings after the initial purchase.
This class is taught in English.
Learning goals for this class include: 

-Writing clear and concise sentences and paragraphs
-Using correct grammar and punctuation
-Organizing ideas logically and effectively
-Using evidence to support claims
-Writing in different genres, such as narrative, expository, and persuasive
-Revising and editing work to improve clarity and accuracy
Homework Offered
After each class students may be asked to complete different sections of their writing or to revise and edit writing that we have completed in class. Students may also be asked to start or complete their rough and final drafts so that I can provide feedback.

Assessments Offered
There are a variety of ways that students could be assessed in this class. Some common methods include: -Writing assignments: Students can be assigned to write essays, stories, poems, or other types of writing on a variety of topics. The teacher can then assess the students' writing based on criteria such as grammar, punctuation, spelling, organization, and content. -Quizzes and tests: Students can be given quizzes and tests to assess their knowledge of specific writing concepts and skills. For example, a student might be given a quiz on the different types of sentences or a test on how to write a persuasive essay. -Self-assessment: Students can be asked to assess their own writing and reflect on their progress. This can be done using a rubric or other assessment tool. -Portfolio: Students can create a portfolio of their writing to demonstrate their progress over the course of the class. This can include a variety of writing assignments, such as essays, stories, poems, and quizzes.
Grades Offered
Students will need writing materials (pencils, pens), access to a dictionary and thesaurus, notebook paper and/or spiral notebook.
We will utilize a dictionary and thesaurus during our writing as well as when we are revising and editing.
