Some common methods include: -Writing assignments: Students can be assigned to write essays, stories, poems, or other types of writing on a variety of topics. The teacher can then assess the students' writing based on criteria such as grammar, punctuation, spelling, organization, and content. -Quizzes and tests: Students can be given quizzes and tests to assess their knowledge of specific writing concepts and skills. For example, a student might be given a quiz on the different types of sentences or a test on how to write a persuasive essay. -Self-assessment: Students can be asked to assess their own writing and reflect on their progress. This can be done using a rubric or other assessment tool. -Portfolio: Students can create a portfolio of their writing to demonstrate their progress over the course of the class. This can include a variety of writing assignments, such as essays, stories, poems, and quizzes.
Students will need writing materials (pencils, pens), access to a dictionary and thesaurus, notebook paper and/or spiral notebook.
We will utilize a dictionary and thesaurus during our writing as well as when we are revising and editing.
