Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 5
Does your child enjoy learning about new places? Do they have a list of places they want to travel to? If so, this is the class for them!! To say that I am excited about this class is a major understatement. I love to travel, explore new places and I love to teach. Now I get to teach about traveling! This is amazing! Through this class I hope to share my enthusiasm about exploring new places while encouraging children to read and socialize with a group of their peers.

The WhoHQ Where is? series of books does an amazing job of explaining different famous places, regions or areas throughout the world. In this class, we'll have the opportunity to explore the Eiffel Tower. While we may be reading small sections of the text in class, to share, say our favorite parts, students should come to class having already read the text. Due to copyright regulations, we are unable to read the entire text during class. During class time we will discuss the book, identify interesting facts and build your own Eiffel Tower with toothpicks and tape.

Learners will need to read the book ahead of class time. Learners will also need toothpicks and tape for the stem challenge. Please look in the classroom to find the worksheets to print out for class.

The book WhoHQ Where is the Eiffel Tower (ISBN 978-0451533845) can be purchased in mulitple places. If you have time, I've found it fairly cheap through www.thriftbooks.com. Or, you can get it in print or Kindle version on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Where-Eiffel-Tower-Dina-Anastasio/dp/0451533844/ref=sr_1_1?crid=IB1PAEMD806U&dchild=1&keywords=where+is+the+eiffel+tower+book&qid=1617287526&sprefix=where+is+the+ei%2Caps%2C138&sr=8-1

I am not affiliated, nor do I profit from the purchase of this book. Just trying to make it easier on parents.

I grew up in Wisconsin where I completed my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education at UW Stout. I've taught for the public school system for 14 years in a variety of positions including classroom teacher, interventionist, ELL teacher and elementary science lab teacher. I hold a Masters Degree in Reading and School Administration from Johns Hopkins. After leaving the public school system I've spent the last several years teaching middle school Science and History at a homeschool tutorial while being a homeschool mom. I enjoy teaching hands on engaging courses that spark the interest of students with the ultimate goal of encouraging them to become life long learners. I welcome student interaction and questions.

In my personal life I LOVE to read, travel and explore new areas, especially the beach! I am a Girl Scout leader and adore every single girl in my troop. As a troop leader I am certified in several outdoors areas- archery, canoe, kayak, camping, etc. I can't wait to share some of my love of the outdoors with families here on Outschool.
