Class Experience

Who's up for a Build Challenge? ME!! I can't wait for this challenging hands-on class. Each week you'll be presented with two themes, and you'll be able to choose which one you want to build. Who doesn't like choices? Then you'll have 25-30 minutes to build. While building we'll have plenty of time to talk with each other too. After 25-30 minutes we'll all share what we created. It's always exciting to see each learner's unique building style show through. Don't like to share? That's fine, our shy participants don't have to share. This will be such an exciting challenge for our building fans out there.

Don't worry! The class won't end there! It'll keep going as long as learners want to build. :)
After that, I'll be taking input from participants for upcoming challenges. I'm thinking swing set, catapult, vehicles, and various household objects.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Maryland Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
I grew up in Wisconsin where I completed my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education at UW Stout. I've taught for the public school system for 14 years in a variety of positions including classroom teacher, interventionist, ELL teacher and elementary science lab teacher. I hold a Masters Degree in Reading and School Administration from Johns Hopkins. After leaving the public school system I've spent the last several years teaching middle school Science and History at a homeschool tutorial while being a homeschool mom. I enjoy teaching hands on engaging courses that spark the interest of students with the ultimate goal of encouraging them to become life long learners. I welcome student interaction and questions.

In my personal life I LOVE to read, travel and explore new areas, especially the beach! I am a Girl Scout leader and adore every single girl in my troop. As a troop leader I am certified in several outdoors areas- archery, canoe, kayak, camping, etc. I can't wait to share some of my love of the outdoors with families here on Outschool.
