US Grade 1 - 2
Reading has been one of my favorite subjects to teach in school. In this one time class, students will learn different techniques to help with reading comprehension. There are 5 stories that we will read ( they will be shared prior to class starting), these stories will be written by me. Before, we begin reading, I will be showing a power point of some different techniques that help students when trying to use reading comprehension to answer questions. Each story will have several questions to go along with the story. Students will take turns reading the short story and then we will read each question and use one of our reading comprehension techniques to help them find the correct answer. I am a very enthusiastic and fun teacher. I have enjoyed teaching students for over 17 years. During those years, I have been a preschool teacher, an English/Language Arts teacher, a Kindergarten Tutor, Substitute teacher, an Elementary Tutor (I tutored students in every subject and every grade during that time), and an online ESL teacher. I have two bachelor degrees in Elementary and Early Childhood education, and my ELA private academic certification.
Learning Goals
Students will improve on their reading comprehension by learning ways to find answers from the text and how to recall information.

Hello, my name is Teacher Carrie. I have been teaching students for 22 years! I started my career with teaching preschool age classes for two years. I then taught middle school to high school age English/ Language Arts for 8 1/2 years. After teaching high school English I then taught a kindergarten tutoring class, which specialized in learning the beginning parts of reading. I was employed for 4 years working with the Kindergarten students. Currently, I teach English as a second language over the computer. I am a very energetic and fun teacher! I like to make learning enjoyable. I strongly believe that a classroom that is engaging and upbeat will help a student become successful in what they are learning. I enjoy spending most of my time outdoors playing ball with my children. I have coached softball and helped coach baseball in the past.
