US Grade 1 - 3
Learning should be fun, and this class is no exception! I use clear, engaging slides (by sharing my screen) to introduce, teach, and reinforce the concept of verbs through demonstration, lively discussion, hands on activities, and fun games. Students will have the opportunity to share ideas and participate in games and activities throughout the class, as well as have time for independent practice. We will begin the class with an ice breaking discussion game, introducing the concept of verbs. We will review what a subject is and practicing identifying them in sentences to warm up our brains. Next, we will define a verb using several examples, pictures and movements, and relate verbs to the subject of sentences. We will continue instruction and application with a series of games like Verb Charades, Verb Bingo, Simon Says Verbs, and Thumbs Up, as well as complete engaging worksheet activities together to reinforce the concepts of identifying and using verbs in sentences. Students will have multiple opportunities to practice this new skill, and create their own sentences using lists of verbs they have generated in class. This fun class is jam packed with valuable and engaging experiences so that your learner will understand what a verb is, and be able to use them and identify them correctly in sentences. Please come to class with all of your supplies ready to learn. I can’t wait to see you there! *Please pay special attention to the supply list for the best experience.

If your student requires assistance with scissors and glue, you may want to help them prepare their bingo game board ahead of class by cutting apart the illustrated verb pieces and pasting them randomly on the blank grid. Please paste them randomly so each learner’s game board is a little unique. Otherwise, we will complete this portion of the activity together in class.

A little about me... I am a mom, wife, and teacher. I am a huge animal lover, and have several pets of my own. When I am not teaching, I love to spend time with my family outdoors biking, hiking, enjoying the beach or Disney, and exploring new adventures. Movies and game nights are also family favorites! I have a fondness for reading writing, and crafts, as well. I love meeting new students, connecting with others, and sharing the joy of learning.
