This study hall focuses on reviewing Nouns, Pronouns, Verbs, Adjective, Adverb, Conjunctions, Prepositions and Articles. The objective is to help learner gain a better understanding of the parts of speech and improve writing skills.

8 live meetings
6 in-class hours
Homework
1-2 hours per week. Students are encourages to create a folder or notebook that includes information about each parts of speech. The notebook can be used as a resource guide for future writing as well as assist with organization and note taking skills. Activities for review will be posted at the end of the session. Approximately 30 minutes should be scheduled to review and organize daily notes.
Assessment
A parts of speech notebook will be shared as a form of assessment. Notebooks can be created on or off line.

Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 3
Beginner - Intermediate Level
These study hall sessions will teach you how to use the parts of speech better than an AI program.  Learners will understand   Articles, Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives, Adverbs, Prepositions, Conjunctions and Pronouns are different types of words.   Understanding the parts of speech transfers into sentences, paragraph and essay writing skills. We will review, define, identify, and properly use the different parts of speech. My eclectic teaching style pools together resources to assist students' ability to express themselves on paper.  Students will create a parts of speech chart, design writing outlines and diagram sentences during our class time.  Our sessions will include:

Types of Verbs
Physical, Mental, State of Being
Verb Tenses

Type of Pronouns

Types of Nouns
 This lesson will cover Common, Proper, Singular, Plural, Possessive, Abstract and Concrete Nouns.

My studies in Educational Psychology helps me to use learning requirements while my Instructional Design helps me to breakdown content.  My goal is to encourage lifelong readers and writers.  I understand learning requires attention, relevance, memory and prior knowledge. Therefore, my sessions include animation for attention; discussion  for relevance; interactive activities for memory and online resources to engage background knowledge.
