The Dalai Lama: Read, Discuss and Draw

For the first time ever, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate His Holiness the Dalai Lama addresses children directly, sharing lessons of peace and compassion, told through stories of his own childhood. In this class we will read this wonderfully illustrated book 'Seeds of Compassion: Teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama' and children will get to draw their favourite scene from the book and answer questions on the text. 

I will also share an informative slideshow about the geography of Tibet and Dharamshala where the Dalai Lama calls home now and the places he stayed such as the famous Potala Palace. We will also learn about what the Dalai Lama does now, how he spends his time and what his hopes are for the future. I will share fun facts about the Dalai Lama such as how he adores gardening and watch making and that he has a fascination with science, ecology and engineering. A range of sources will be used for the slideshow and the Dalai Lama will always be discussed in an objective, secular and kind manner by the teacher. Please bring some paper and colour pens for the drawing component of the class. 

Class schedule: 
10 minutes: Read the book (you do not need a copy of the book as I will hold it up to the screen)
15 minutes: Slideshow 
10 minutes: Drawing time with music (please bring some paper and pens)
