Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
In this class we will explore the process of mummification, hieroglyphics, the creation of tombs, the Egyptian book of the dead, the afterlife journey, and the final resting place. Learners will understand the importance of the afterlife for Ancient Egyptians by examining some of the items that would be left in the tomb for use in the afterlife. We will look at what a funeral procession would look like in Ancient Egypt and what would happen during ceremonies such as the 'Opening of the Mouth' and the ‘Weighing of the Heart’. The class will be composed of visually interesting slides, interactive discussions, quiz questions, a video from Ted-ed and artwork. Leaners will get to illustrate the Egyptian afterlife journey at the end of the class so please bring some paper and colour pens. All are welcome!
