Beginner Level
Join me for a playful Thanksgiving art adventure where young artists will bring Thanksgiving to life starting with colorful watercolor blobs! In this hands-on online watercolor painting class, kids will transform simple blobs into charming fall-themed creations like turkeys and pumpkins. Then, we will make the painting a little more challeging with a negative space leaf painting and the grand finale will be a scarecrow painting! The artists will explore exciting watercolor techniques such as wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, and negative space painting, learning to blend colors and add depth while creating vibrant scenes of the season. This class is designed to inspire creativity, boost confidence, and teach young artists essential painting skills in a supportive environment. As they mix and layer colors, the young artists will gain a deeper understanding of how water and pigments interact, sparking their artistic curiosity. By the end of the class, each child will have several unique Thanksgiving-themed masterpieces to proudly share with family and friends! Perfect for young beginners and budding artists alike, this online painting class is an ideal way for kids to express themselves, build fine motor skills, and have loads of fun while making art that captures the cozy magic of Thanksgiving! We will work on more than one painting at a time so that we don't have to waste time making things dry. During the first meeting, the learners will need 2 pieces of watercolor paper. They will then need these same two for the second meeting. During the third and fourth meetings, they will need two different pieces of watercolor paper. This is so that we don't have to dry our paintings during class time. The techniquest that will be taught include: Wet-on-wet painting Wet-on-dry painting Negative space painting Topics will include how to prepare your paper for watercolor painting, how to do the techniques being taught, Thanksgiving and Autumn-themed "Would You Rather" questions, Thanksgiving and Autumn-themed jokes. We will not be discussing the history of Thanksgiving or Native Americans and Pilgrims in this class. The class will follow the following structure: Greetings Demonstration Painting and socialization Virtual Art Gallery On day 1, we will begin the pumpkin, turkey blob, and background for negative space leaf paintings. On day 2, we will finish the pumpkin, turkey blob paintings, and 1st layer of negative space leaf painting. On day 3, we will work on the negative space leaf painting and the scarecrow painting. On day 4, we will finish the negative space leaf painting and the scarecrow painting.
