In this flexible schedule class with no live meetings, the students will learn how to write each letter of the American English alphabet, both capital and lowercase. We will work on shape, size, and spacing. We will then go on to use those letters in words. Each lesson will include a demonstration as well as time to practice. Students will need to practice what they have learned to help them form the letters correctly. The main focus of this class will be the mechanics of printing letters....

Week 1Lesson 1Lowercase Letters: c, a, d, and gThis lesson will help us develop some terms that we will be using to help form each letter correctly as well as practice writing the letters c, a, d, and g. We will practice writing some real words and some nonsense words. As we learn more letters, we will move from using nonsense words to real words. Don't forget to share pictures of your practice so that I can give you suggestions to help you along the way.Lesson 2Lowercase letters h, t, p, e, l, f, and uWe will learn new letters with loops and begin forming more real words. Don't forget to share pictures of your practice so that I can give you suggestions to help you along the way.Lesson 3Lower case letters y, i, j, k, r, and sWe will be working on some new letters some of which drop into the lava zone and continue practicing the letters in isolation as well as connected to form words. Don't forget to share pictures of your practice so that I can give you suggestions to help you along the way.Week 2Lesson 4Lowercase Letters and Tricky Connections: o, w, b, and vThis lesson is about forming letters that when joining them will have tricky connections to the letter that follows. Some of these connections are harder than others. Don't forget to share pictures of your practice so that I can give you suggestions to help you along the way.Lesson 5Lowercase letters m, n, x, q, and zIn this lesson we are focusing on letters that either have hills in them or drop into the lava zone.Week 3Lesson 6Uppercase letters A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, and MIn this lesson, we will go over the first half of the capital letters. Don't forget to share pictures of your practice so that I can give you suggestions to help you along the way.Lesson 7Uppercase letters N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z.In this lesson, we will go over the remainder of the capital letters. Don't forget to share pictures of your practice so that I can give you suggestions to help you along the way.Lesson 8Your signature or name in cursiveWhen you are ready, I will also create a lesson showing you how to write your name in cursive. I will need you to reach out to me so that I can create the video demonstration. You will need to make sure you have shown me all of your previous work to get the video. Don't forget to share pictures of your practice so that I can give you suggestions to help you along the way.Week 4Lesson 9Practice writing sentences and pangrams.This week, we will practice writing sentences and pangrams. Pangrams are sentences that use every letter of the alphabet in the sentence. Don't forget to share pictures of your practice so that I can give you suggestions to help you along the way.Lesson 10Challenge ActivityAs a challenge activity, I want you to write a few sentences that tell about something that is one of your favorite things. Remember, all writing should be completed in cursive. If you need help, please reach out.

I have been an educator for over 31 years. During this time, I have taught all academic areas including Art and STEAM for grades K-5.
Homework Offered
This class is flexible schedule. That means there will be no live meetings of the class. The learners will need to practice the letters and submit their practice samples in order to get individualized feedback.Assessments Offered
The learners will be assessed based on the formation of the letters in isolation as well as within words as well as the spacing of the letters. The assessments will be done during the class based on work submitted for review. Feedback will be given based on the assessments.Grades Offered
Research has shown that learning to write in cursive is beneficial for children who have unique learning needs. This class will show the learner step-by-step how to form each letter in isolation as well as in words.
Primary Paper to help with the sizing of the letters Pencil Eraser Something to take pictures of the student's cursive writing in order to submit the work.
If the learner does not send copies of their practice, I will reach out to ensure that everything is okay. I will provide feedback to the work that is submitted.
I will not be using any outside sources. The style of writing that I will be using is similar to that used in the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum.
