Can-Do Cursive: Learning to Write in Cursive Using Correct Letter Formation
Class experience
During this 8 lesson class, students will learn how to write each letter of the American English alphabet, both capital and lowercase. We will work on shape, size and spacing. We will then go on to use those letters in words. Each lesson will include a demonstration as well as time to practice. Week 1: We will work on the letters i, l, h, r, t, L, R, and H Week 2: We will work on the letters k, b, d, p, q, K, B, D, P, and review the previously learned letters as time allows Week 3: We will work on the letters c, a, o, g, j, C, A, O, J, and review the previously learned letters as time allows Week 4: We will work on the letters n, m, u, v, w, N, M, V, and review the previously learned letters as time allows Week 5: We will work on the letters e, f, s, x, y, z, E, S, X, Y, and review the previously learned letters as time allows Week 6: We will work on the letters T, Q, G, Z, F, U, W, I, and review the previously learned letters as time allows Week 7: We will use the letters to form words. Week 8: We will use the letters to form sentences as a group. Students will practice writing pangrams, which are sentences that use all of the letters of the alphabet.
I have been an educator for over 31 years. During this time, I have taught all academic areas including Art and STEAM for grades K-5.
Homework Offered
Each student will be expected to practice the letters we are working on between classes. This will help develop the fine motor skills needed for writing as well as help them improve their handwriting skills.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
