Textbook reading can be a daunting task, but not when you know how to read and take notes for greater retention. In this class, I teach students how to use the SQ4R process and Cornell note-taking method for reading and taking notes from a textbook. Applying the SQ4R and Cornell notes process leads to better retention of information and better grades.

In class, students will learn how to apply all SQ4R and Cornell notes to a textbook reading activity as we break down each step of the process through discussion and practice. Students will leave having more confidence in how to read for retention. If your student struggles with reading and retention this class is a must for them.

I have been teaching for 30 years and have been teaching study strategies for 25 years. I am a kind, patient, and encouraging teacher.

I do encourage parents to watch the recording after class. I have found that students have the most success when parents can reinforce what was taught in class. Becoming proficient at this will not happen overnight. It takes practice and with your help and support, this process will become rote for them leading to more confidence, better retention and comprehension, and better grades.

Handouts are provided before and after class.
