Intermediate Level
In each class, learners will organize their ideas and write a multiparagraph paper. This class meets twice a week. You are welcome to join the class anytime. 


In this class, students will …

⭐️ Choose a topic
⭐️ Think of ideas
⭐️ Organize ideas using a note taking strategy
⭐️ Use the notes to write a multiparagraph paper



Below is a description of each class activity. 


*** WRITING GENRE ***

Each week, learners will focus on a writing genre. At the beginning of each class, learners will learn about the characteristics of the writing genre. 



*** TOPIC ***

Learners will choose their writing topic each class. The teacher will give some ideas for writing topics. Then, students will choose their own writing topic. 



*** NOTE TAKING ***

After the topic is chosen, learners will begin the note taking process. The teacher will demonstrate an example of the note taking process in each class. 


The note taking strategy will include …

✏️ Outlining the main ideas 
✏️ Creating the supporting ideas
✏️ Listing details for each idea
✏️ Color coding the notes



*** MULTIPARAGRAPH PAPER ***

Learners will use their notes to write a multiparagraph paper. The teacher will model how to create a multiparagraph paper with the notes. 

The multiparagraph paper will include:

📝 Introductory paragraph
📝 3 Body paragraphs
📝 Conclusion paragraph
📝 Transition words (when applicable)
📝 Main ideas
📝 Supporting ideas
📝 Details



*** SHARING ***

At the end of the class, learners will share their writing. 

If learners are unable to complete all of the writing during class, they may finish their writing after class.

Notetaking is a great way for learners to organize ideas, visualize their paragraphs, and guide their writing. It helps all learners with writing multiparagraph papers.
Parental Guidance
I use Google Slides to present the content in this class. I screen share my slide deck during class.
Pre-Requisites
Learners must be proficient in writing a paragraph independently before taking this class.
