Students make predictions, measure liquids, observe, time the dissolving process, and record their findings. Students test their theories in a hands-on, age-appropriate and fun-filled seasonal lesson. Class discussion will also include topics density of liquids and buoyancy of candy-does one float, another sink? The students use their creativity and put their reasoning skills to practice. Students through trial and error will allow their potential to unfold. Students scientific reasoning will be amazing, mindset will shift, problems will be solved, and thinking will be dynamic. Students will receive feedback and encouragement during the class. *Slides will be used to accompany the class

Supply List
5 clear small plastic cups Cooking oil, warm/hot water, cold water, vinegar, and seltzer-fill cups half way, one cup with each type of liquid. Possible need to refill cups Spoon to skim out remaining candy bits Candy corns, Peeps-ghosts or pumpkins, Whoopers (Peeps may be low supply/difficult to find-no worries 2 types of candies are great) *An observation sheet will be posted in the classroom prior to the lesson-please print to accompany class discussion - this will include labels for students to use to mark cups of liquids

Teacher expertise and credentials
I served the Director of Ancillary Services tasked with planning and executing summer and winter camps at a PK-12 school. I hold a degree in Psychology and an MBA, a 150-hour master teacher certificate for teaching English as a second language courses and have served as a college counselor for almost 5 years advising students and families on the college acceptance process. I have taught middle school-math, reading and experimental science, have been an academic administrator in a Pre-K 12 school and was a founding director of a Learning Center.
