US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
Students will be able to identify and demonstrate the scientific method, follow given steps to conduct their own experiments and understand why (the science behind chemical reactions).

✔️ Week 1- Quicksand Slime! ⌛ • 2 cups corn starch • 2 cups sand • 1 cup size measuring cup • water • 1 large bowl • 1 metal fork • A few small plastic toys that CAN get wet! (Such as Legos blocks, miniature figurines, animals, etc) • 1 strainer with pea size holes or bigger (NOT the mesh type) • 1 tray • Hand towel or paper towels • 1 curious kid =) ✔️ Week 2- Sticky water 🌊 • 4 CLEAR small cups • 1 paperclip • Water (enough to fill 2 cups) • 3 COTTON shoelaces (2 feet each) Alternative: yarn (must be COTTON) • 1 food coloring • 1 spoon • 1 large towel • 1 curious kid & a grownup =) ✔️ Week 3- Refraction action 📷 • 2 sheets of plain white paper (no lines) • 1 sandwich size Ziploc bag (6.5inches x 5 7/8inches or any size close to that) • Another sheet of plain white paper, but CUT it *before class* & make sure it fits inside the Ziploc bag) • 1 PERMANENT black marker • 1 LIGHT color marker that is not black • 1 CLEAR jar or CLEAR jar or WIDE, TALL glass filled with water. (Make sure the Ziploc will be able to fit in it) • 1 curious kid! =) ✔️ Week 4- Exploding fountains! 💥 • 1 CLEAR & CLEAN Narrow-necked bottle (16oz) • 1 spoon • Food coloring • 1 pack of dry yeast • 4 tablespoons of VERY WARM water in a small cup • 1 large funnel (Ensure it’s wide at the bottom & it fits into the bottle before class) • ½ size measuring cup • Hydrogen peroxide (3%) • Liquid dish soap (NOT the antibacterial version & not foam) • 1 UNOPEN liter or bigger size bottle of COKE • 1 cup of salt • 1 LARGE & DEEP tray • 1 large bath towel • 1 pair of gloves (thin ones are preferred) • 1 curious kid! =) For the last class, ensure your learner in an open space to avoid spillage on surrounding items and have your learner be at a good distance from their device so no liquids get on it. Kindly note that if you do not have the supplies, students are still allowed to join the class and merely follow along. That way, they can still learn the process of how to make it and they can also conduct this experiment after class. Additionally, the file is merely a welcome picture. NO file is needed for class.
