Analogies are important in the English language, and frequently occur in everyday speech. Being able to understand analogies improves English skills as well as helps to improving logic and reasoning skills, not to mention vocabulary. There ls a method and structure to the relationship within an analogy. We will breakdown 25 types of analogies and discuss the relationship between the words used.

Analogies make up about one quarter of the questions on the Verbal section of the SAT. There are 19 Analogies out of a total of 78 Verbal questions. You'll probably see one set of 13 and one set of 6 Analogy questions. Analogies test your ability to define relationships between words as well as your vocabulary.

This class will be taught online through discussion with accompanying slides for visual interest.
This is a 90 minute class-there will be a 3-5 minute break midway through. An analogy packet will be emailed prior to the class to help with efficient notetaking so students can work through the examples in the lesson.
