I taught Reading for two years at a college preparatory academy. I served the Director of Ancillary Services tasked with planning and executing summer and winter camps at a PK-12 school. I hold a degree in Psychology and an MBA, a 150-hour master teacher certificate for teaching English as a second language courses and have served as a college counselor for almost 7 years advising students and families on the college acceptance process. I have taught middle school, have been an academic administrator in a Pre-K 12 school and was a founding director of a Learning Center. I have taught online for 3 years.
Each class we will begin reading, students will finish the reading, usually two chapters, about 10-18 pages. Homework will include reading and completing comprehension, literary device questions as well as vocabulary. A book review will be due at the end of the course, much of this will be discussed in class. Please submit homework prior to the start of the next class-for example if assigned Monday, submit before the Wednesday class. Preferred one day, yet understand we are teaching worldwide so prior to the start of class is ok. Cannot submit after the class as we are reviewing homework. Please let me know of extenuating situations.
Please have a copy of Charlotte's Web. I can send a print out of the story if needed. I will send homework after each class. Students will need a pen or pencil.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be assessed based on participation and homework completion and correctness. Please keep cameras on during the lesson.
4 hours 35 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
