This game-based class will help students move from letter sounds to reading. Through interactive activities and tailored instruction, we'll build essential skills, making the leap from letters to words a fun and engaging experience!

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
8 lessons//4 Weeks
 Week 1
Lesson 1
Consonants And Phonemic Awareness
Introduction of consonant sounds, practice with blending and segmenting sounds, and preparation for game play.
Lesson 2
Consonants And Phonemic Awareness (cont)
Introduction of consonant sounds, practice with blending and segmenting sounds, and preparation for game play.
 Week 2
Lesson 3
Vowel Sounds
We will play a series of games to explore vowel sounds, mouth shape, and blending with vowel sounds.
Lesson 4
Two-Letter Blends
We will use blend ladders to practice blending two sounds together. We will practice with continuous and stop consonants.
 Week 3
Lesson 5
Introduction to CVC words (with written letters)
We will play a game of "eye spy" with sounds, practice blending three-letter words, and learn fun ways to practice
Lesson 6
CVC words (continued)
We will play games to continue practicing blending and segmenting CVC words.
 Week 4
Lesson 7
Practice Makes Progress...
We will learn and play a variety of games that allow learners to practice CVC words in fun ways.
Lesson 8
...and Games Make it Fun!
We will continue playing games to practice blending CVC words.
Learners will build on previous letter-sound knowledge to begin blending, segmenting, reading, and writing CVC words (dog, cat, sun). Learners will learn about stop and continuous contents, have a strong focus on short vowel sound, and be provided with plenty of practice through the use of games and activities.
I am a certified elementary teacher with years of experience in preschool and second grade. I have also taught ESL for 3 years on-line, and hold an MA in Teaching from Dominican University. I am trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach through IMSE (30-hour morphology plus course) and the Reed Charitable Foundation (30-hour classroom educator course).

All necessary materials will be provided each week.
