Mastering spelling can be challenging, even for strong readers. This class offers explicit, systematic spelling instruction to help students succeed. Using 'Pop-its' or alternatives, we'll segment words, match sound/spelling combinations, and build essential spelling skills through engaging lessons. Each class includes: A 'Super Important Question' Mini-lessons on spelling rules or patterns (with games or activities) Phonemic awareness practice, often involving segmentation and syllables Word dictation (using the 'pop, write, check' method) Sentence dictation Word lists for additional at-home practice activities are provided. This class is intentionally designed to support learners with dyslexia through the use of multi-sensory spelling techniques.

I am a certified elementary teacher with years of experience in preschool and second grade. I have also taught ESL for 3 years on-line, and hold an MA in Teaching from Dominican University. I am trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach through IMSE (30-hour) and the Reed Charitable Foundation Classroom Educator (30-hour course).
