Join us as we sew a dance or gymnastics leotard to fit an 18" doll.
Class experience
In this class we will work together to sew a leotard for 18" dolls. This outfit would will be perfect for dance, swim or gymnastics and is similar to the one Molly wears in the American Girl books. Prior to beginning class students must already be comfortable with their sewing machine and able to sew straight lines. Day 1: Picking your fabric - we will discuss types of fabric and what fabrics are appropriate for this project including what would be authentic prints and patterns for this time...
Lesson 1: printed copy of pattern from Pixie Faire - https://etsy.me/34PECVN Lesson 2: 1/4 yard of 4 way stretch fabric 8 x 10 inch scrap of 4 way stretch fabric (for overlay) 3/4 yard Fold Over Elastic (FOE) scissors, pins, table space Lesson 3 - 4: sewing machine (and adult supervision/assistance if necessary) iron hand sewing needle
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will need to have access to a working sewing machine for this class. The instructor will be using an older version of this machine: https://amzn.to/2XtCcsY Students are responsible for knowing how to turn on, and thread their spacific machine prior to beginning class. If you need help with these steps often craft store employees (who you can meet with personally) and/or youtube videos are of great assistance. Please let the instructor know prior to class if you are still struggling and we will find a way to help.
