Class Experience

I have found there are many children that would love to unleash their creativity through the art of sewing, but never pursue it because they don't own a sewing machine.

Hand Sewing for Beginners is a 4-day course designed to teach students (6) basic stitches used for general hand-sewn projects and couture garment hand sewing. This will allow them the freedom to unleash their sewing creativity without feeling restricted because they don't own a sewing machine.

Below is a rough breakdown of what we will cover over the course of the class.

Day 1
We will discuss what hand sewing really is, the tools needed to hand sew, and what we should add to our basic starter kit. We'll also learn how to thread our needle, and do 2 different types of basic stitches (The Basting & Running).

Day 2
We will look at the various types of fabric used for sewing, and we'll build upon the stitches learned by adding 2 more styles of basic stitches (The Back and Whip) to our hand-sewing skillset.

Day 3
We will add our final 2 stitches (The Invisible and Catch) to our belt, and we'll prep our fabric for our final project.

Day 4
We will work on our final project together which is a kitty cat mug rug.
