Class Experience

*the age range for this class is very flexible. Message me if you have questions about your learners age.
In this hands-on ongoing class I will walk learners through everything they need to get started sewing their own projects. Learners are encouraged to bring their projects and ideas to class and we will work out any obstacles and get them on their way.
For younger and beginner learners often a parent needs to be available to help with hands on things.
I am here to help students every step of the way, on whatever they need help with. Learners can bring their own project, or I have lots of small sewing projects for beginner sewers to get started with.
Also, we can discuss learner interests and I can suggest patterns and materials suitable for their level of experience. Feel free to message me with any questions about your child's level and what would be an appropriate project.

For learners who haven't sewn before, I recommend they start with my "How to thread your sewing machine class."
For learners who are comfortable with their machines, I have small starter crafty projects to get them going on their machines.
Once learners are comfortable I recommend a beginner project such as a pair of pull on shorts or pj pants.
The Monday section of this class is perfect for homeschoolers who are eager to work on their own projects with support. This class is a good place for more advanced sewers, and learners eager to work on design as well as sewing. Of course there is still lots of time and space for beginners too. This group is a warm and welcoming group of homeschool learners who are eager to encourage each other and cheer each other's wins.
The Saturday section of this class is perfect for beginner sewers whether they want to learn to sew from a pattern for themselves, or bring to life projects they imagine.

Class Structure:
Each week starts off with a check-in, what project are people working on, do they have anything they'd like to show and share, and are there any roadblocks they need help with.
Then learners will work on projects of their choice, or beginner sewers can work on a beginner project from this project list.

Who is this class for?
The class size is capped at 6 students to make sure there is time for everyone and everyone gets the attention they need.
Learners work at their own pace, and are encouraged to take their time and feel confident with their project. I also encourage learners to come together as a creative community and be encouraging with each other and support a creative atmosphere in class.

This is a wonderful class for young people who are creative and want to explore textiles. Whether they want to create their own thing, or learn how to follow a pattern, I will support them however they want to create.
This class is also for young people, who don't like to be micro managed in their projects but just need advice and/or supervision.
And it's also fine for beginner sewers who don't have a clue where to start.
Students of all skill levels and project diversity are welcome. In all classes, students are guided through a project of their choice and instruction is customized to each student's skill level. I like to create an atmosphere of creative play and am here to make your sewing experience the best it can be.
Schedule repeats on a six week system but if learners want to explore different ideas I will update the classroom as needed.
The Monday section of this class has a mix of abilities with some learners creating their own patterns and designing and sewing their garments and other learners who are completely new to sewing and working on one garment over many weeks. The great thing about that is, when there's a question, everyone participates in the discussion and beginner sewers are learning some advanced skills just by watching and listening to their peers.
The Saturday section is open of course to all sewers but currently has younger sewers who got a sewing machine for Christmas and are learning and discovering with beginner friendly projects.
