Homework
1-2 hours per week. Students can expect to spend 1-3 hours each week working on their photography skills and making decisions for their business. Most of this time will be taking photos and organizing their thoughts on each topic as we proceed through the course. Some students may opt to purchase and read additional suggested texts.

This 10-week course is the third in a four-part series designed for high school students preparing to enter the photography industry. In this course, students will focus on developing their personal photography brand, building a website, and establishing a professional online presence through social media. They will learn key aspects of branding, such as choosing a business name, designing a logo, and selecting photos for their portfolio. Alongside these branding activities, students will work on promoting their business online and learning strategies to increase their visibility with potential clients. By the end of the course, students will have a functioning website and social media profiles, as well as a professional portfolio.

Each week, a new video lesson will guide students through essential branding and online marketing steps. Students will work on building their photography website, refining their portfolio, and creating social media profiles to advertise their services. Weekly assignments include sharing photos, receiving feedback on their websites, and discussing ways to improve their brand’s online presence. Learners will engage in group discussions and receive personalized advice to ensure their photography business is set up for success. This course balances creative development with practical business skills to help students become confident professionals.

10 Lessons

Lesson 1:
Intro to marketing & branding
 Students will have an introduction to branding and will research laws in their local areas to ensure they will operate their businesses legally. 
Lesson 2:
Brand story
 Students will learn about business messaging and positioning. 
Learners will work on their business or brand's story and develop a short elevator pitch.

Branding board
 Learners will work on branding decisions such as business names, colors, fonts, etc. & create a one page brand sheet.

 Students will choose their best images that may be used for website and advertising.

Supply List
A camera that allows the student to change their aperture, shutter speed, and ISO is required for this course. 
DSLR or mirrorless cameras are most common. 
Many students will be using Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop at this point in their photography education.
Students will develop a website in this course and can choose free or low investment paid options if they want a custom URL or more functionality.
