Beginner - Intermediate Level
This 9-week photography course for 2nd graders introduces students to framing and perspective, essential elements of creative photography. Through hands-on lessons, learners will explore how to use natural frames, such as doors and windows, and experiment with different angles to create unique images. Integrated with storytelling, math, science, and social studies, the course encourages students to photograph local landmarks, weather changes, and symmetrical scenes. By the end of the course, students will develop a visual narrative, showcasing their growing photography and storytelling skills. The course also connects photography with other subjects—math skills will be applied to photographing symmetrical objects, science will come to life as students capture seasonal changes, and social studies will be explored through photographing historical landmarks in their community. Live Zoom classes will feature interactive activities, photo challenges, games, and group discussions, with time for show-and-tell where learners share their images and receive feedback. By the end of the course, students will have completed a photography project that showcases their creative growth. This course is part of a series offering a complete and comprehensive photography curriculum for all grade levels, Kindergarten through 12th grade. All of these courses meet grade-level academic standards for photography and integrate other art, English, math, science, and social studies skills.
