Class Experience

Welcome to Mr. Gullett or Mr. G’s Introduction into the Career of Marketing by learning how to use the Monroe Motivated Sequence to create a commercial, advertisement, or a brochure. If you have ever thought about a career in Marketing then this is the class for you.

Our class will first look at careers in Marketing providing an overview of the profession. Then we will dive deep into the Monroe Motivated Sequence, which is a framework created by Professor Alan Monroe back in the 1930s for persuasive speaking. However, it was the perfect time as radios were becoming more standard and commonplace. Plus, it would only be a matter of a few years before TV’s took the main stage in households. Individuals in the marketing field soon recognized how Monroe’s Framework could easily be used in marketing to sell a good (product) or a service. The Monroe Motivated Sequence has five steps that the class will cover to assist students in creating a commercial, ad, or brochure. Our two day class will first dive into the profession of Marketing and the Monroe Motivated Sequence. The second day we will dive deeper into these aspects, discuss what we learned, and share the commercials we created.

Learning Goals/Intentions/Successes:
One of the main goals is to cover the profession of Marketing, explain the Monroe Motivated Sequence, and discuss the homework of creating a commercial, or an ad, or a brochure using Monroe.
~After learning about Monroe, create a product or service and a name for this product or service (completely made up name - feel free to add humor).
~Create a video commercial, or a radio commercial, or an advertisement, or brochure demonstrating the skills sets of the profession in marketing using Monroe.

Learning Goals/Intentions/Successes:
The secondary goal is to dive deeper into the Monroe Motivated Sequence and the Marketing Career Cluster/Profession. We will also examine some of the other techniques to marketing in literary devices. We will also share our projects.
Learning Goals
Leaners will be able to examine careers in marketings.
Leaners will be able to understand the Monroe Motivated Sequence to help persuade customers to buy the good (product) or service that the student invented.
