US Grade Kindergarten - 1
Learn the principles that keep a helicopter aloft and explore examples from nature of plants that helicopter! Make a simple helicopter from common materials. The first 5 minutes are introductions and warm up. Then we will spend 10 minutes discovering why a helicopter can fly. Next we will make simple helicopters from paper, and paperclips. Lastly, we will look at examples of "helicopters" in nature. Children will be invited to express ideas and thoughts about how helicopters can fly. We will then examine their ideas and discuss how they are right and what else they may need to consider. Children often learn best by developing their own theories with adult guidance. I keep class size small, so students get ample opportunity to contribute and ask questions. No prior knowledge is needed, but children should be able to use a ruler and cut with scissors. Parents are invited to help learners who may have difficulty with the small motor skills involved in this lesson. Parents are encouraged to remain off-camera and not participate in class discussions.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Asbury College (University)
I have taught children for nearly 40 years as a grade school teacher, preschool teacher, and mother of 5 sons! I love science, and believe children need to understand their world, and experimentation comes naturally to kids. When I can combine a child's natural curiosity with a fascinating project to stimulate growth, wonder and questions, I am happy! Let your child explore the world with me
